Hello .. I have 16 years .. My heart goes to 240 beats per minute when I get these tachycardias usually me to bend down .. ... I've done electrocardiogram and echocardiogram ... I made up for it ... at the time of tachycardia does not give me time to get to the doctor .. is it serious this tachycardia? I have been given at least 15 times

I've read many of the very moving comments posted here, and for those of you who are struggling with SVT, my best wishes are with you. Please know that there are many promising treatments in the research pipeline, and that within your lifetime (maybe no so far into the future), we will have a whole range of new treatments. So please hold on and remain positive! The future may be very bright for you.

I'm 13 and my cardiologist thinks I have this and I have to have a monitor now for a month so he can see what happens when I have an attack and to also make an accurate diagnosis

im 14 years old and i have PSVT i was diagnosed with it about 3 months ago after going to the ER with a heart rate if about 230 BPM; it was my 5th episode they just couldnt catch it before. They treated me with adenosine and my heart felt like it stopped. i am still awaiting my ablation catheter treatment and hope to get past this soon

usmcwifey9609 said...

@usmcwifey9609 and they also tell me that ablation is out of the question b/c its being treated fairly well with meds but i hate the fact that i might have to take it for the rest of my life. they cant really tell me for sure what the future hold, and im only 20. and they said the ablation would more than likely require a pacemaker b/c of where the electrical pathway is located that they would be ablating. :/

@jameslewis82 i feel the exact same way! i have svt and just got diagnosed in feb 2010 and since then have had adrenaline studies, thyroid checked multiple time, normal eccos and chest x-rays... now im on tambocor 100 mg twice a day and bystolic b/c my BP became erratic and would shoot up dangerously high. taking so many pills every day sucks. i wish there was some easy fix.

@DaBeastinAzn i have been experiencing this for two and a half years now and it scares the shit of of me . what does a ablation involve ? and how long did it take ?

I have SVT & I just had an episode a bit over 2 weeks ago & then another one 2 nights ago, there hopefully going to speed up my appointment with a cardiologist. I have to take these stupid pills that I hate, there saying I probably cant die from it but when its happening I"M not so sure, i hate it

@NoodleSalad101 ablation using heat to kill the nerve is detrimental to your heart. If they froze it,then its ok.Hope yours was frozen.

@jeffn411 yeah it is!but i love that stuff!only cuz it makes me feel sooo much better:)

i had this hapen to me my heart was racing 230 perminut my hnds got num and it felt like i was shuting down i got verry week i had the convershion th medication t times they gave me an iv and heart drugs but the had to stop my heart 2 times

@melykin I've had the adenosine too. The first few doses didn't work, and finally the higher dose did. It was crazy intense! It felt like I was having the wind knocked out of me, I couldn't breathe at all for about 5-10 seconds. And then POOF! My heart rate dropped dramatically into the normal range and out of the SVT. Adenosine is a crazy/amazing drug! Quite a rush to say the least.

ok.. so I almost went into an Arrhythmia just watching that!!! Brings back bad memories.

@UnaFatsaUnaRasta22 you know this tachycardia is not all fun when it happens

kmurnane1 said...

Oh good God Almighty they did that to me?! My rate was nearly 300, it wasn't even beating so much as vibrating. I've been watching other vids today, too, of real patients getting defibbed (not TV shows). Kind of wish I hadn't, but thank you Lord for EMTs, doctors, and technology used the right way!

Nice Video!
Just a question please, how do you shock the patient (unless it's a demo of the unit) whit the paddels still in their place in the Lifepak 10?

UnaFatsaUnaRasta22 said...

@Parizeau21

I feel the very same way, when I bend over to pick something up or to catch my breathe from a game of ball it happens. It happens at any given moment for me as well no matter what I am doing. Ive done bicep curls and my heart was pumping really hard and fast but it wasnt an attack like you said...It sucks ive been living like this for 5 years and im only 18...

UnaFatsaUnaRasta22 said...

When i was sleeping or getting ready to sleep face down, i would awake in the middle of the night and my heart would be beating very fast and it seemed as though the breath had been knocked right out of me. Other times i would be playing soccer or exercising and my heart would be beating out of my chest and I would feel faint. I would also be at the club and due to the loud music, my heart would start racing and I would feel the same symptoms. Would ablation cure this?

Loken749 said...

I've had the Catheter Ablation 3 times and the Cryoablation once and I still suffer from it, i have to take verapamil hydrochloride once daily it still sucks ass tho

tomgunc said...

Correction from last post. I TAKE ATENOLOL TO KEEP MY HEART "FROM" GOING SO DAMN FAST.

tomgunc said...

My heart takes off from time to time and I have been told it's due to undue stress. I take small doses of Xanax...0.5mg sometimes up to 1.0mg per day and Atenolol to keep my heart going so damn fast. I had no idea that fear can release adrenaline while you're sitting there watching Jay Leno on tv and your heart goes super fast. These are called panic attacks for me. I was looking up fast heartbeats and I found this video. I hope I don't have this shit. I've been tested b4 and they said I am ok.

It is interesting the way that you explain changes made to the guides. 2010.

hmm this is pretty informative. i had an svt about a year ago, my heart rate was 225bpm, i thought i was dying, it was the worst, and the adenosine made me feel so different, i had another really short one recently but it went back to normal on its own. hopefully it never happens again, good video!
